Unfortunately, the power steering in our MINIs is notorious for failure. First to go is usually the fan, so here is the latest & updated OEM part so you can easily replace it. If your having problems with your power steering, look here first! The fans are known for locking up, blowing fuses, and destroying the pumps... so replace this first! (Plus, its a LOT less expensive than the pump!) Also when replacing the fan, check fuse #41 (5 amp) under the dash, to make sure it's not blown. We have seen a coloration of this fuse being blown and the fan turning on or not. We can say the same this about the cooling fan. If the cooling fans are more working right, it will also not send a signal to the power steering fan. So make sure your cooing fans are working. If not get a relay kit and fix it correctly.
This version of the fan is at least the 4th design if not the 5th. We only stock the latest and great version of the fan. The new design is the best design yet, with an actual seal on the fan shaft to keep water, mud, sand, and what ever else is on the road out of the fan motor. This is the way this fan should have been designed from day one. Better late than never!
This part is the exact same as the MINI part, just without the metal bracket, and in a different box. But the even better news is you don;t have to pay the MINI price tag! Very easy to install. Just remove the fan from the car, remove the 4 screws that hold the fan in place, and unclip the wires with a simple twist. Clean up the old bracket, and reinstall the fan. Don't forget to check the fuse #41 under the dash! very simple and easy.
