Looking to use your iPod or an MP3 player in your MINI? We consider this inexpensive aux port as the way best to do it!

It's much less expensive than the MINI iPod adapter, and is able to be mounted on your parcel shelf, under your down tubes (see above photos), or in your glove box. You can also control songs and play lists from the iPod itself, another added bonus. No more need for you to make specific play lists like with the MINI iPod kit. The only downside is that it does not charge your iPod or other MP3 device, and doesn't work with the multifunction buttons. Sorry, but on the upside, you save yourself over $250! Most MP3 players will last any long road trip no problem anyways.

Also if you have never felt your stereo was loud enough, then you're in luck! Use the volume on the player to boost the sound and adjust the sound level with your radio. Also on the radio, go into the sound setting and set the Aux volume level to 5 to keep the sound level where we like it..LOUD!

Installation is rather easy with simple hand tools and drill and a few drill bits. We like mounting them down by the cup holders rather than the glove box like the manual says to. (see above photos)

Note: The only part you will also need to make it all work is a 6-Ft. Shielded Cable, 1/8" Stereo Plug to 1/8" Stereo Plug to go from aux port to your player headphone port that is not included.

Note: This item will NOT work with the gen 2 cars as there is one that comes stock with the car. (IE: R56.R55, R57, R58, R60, R61, Etc.)

Fitment Note: Will not work on very early 2002 radios. We know they work on build date of 02/03 to the end of the generation build dates.

Exactly What I've Been Looking For

This is a great factory option item. Really wasn't too difficult to install, but I'm glad I have a service manual. Removing the radio does require taking out a few pieces to get at it. Also I installed the jack into the tubular upright rather than where the instructions say to. If you follow the instructions you will have to have the glovebox open to utilize the jack. Works great exactly as it should.

Most of the instructions tell you that you have to remove the down tubes from the car but if you open the panel under the steering column and just feel around behind the radio it will push in and snap into place. Worked perfectly.
