NM Intake system for the MINI Cooper S with N14 engine for the US model.

The 'Open-Air-Box' system gives you the abundance and unrestricted 360° of air source compared to OEM's sealed air box with flat filter and tube fed air source. During R&D, we installed temperature probes around the engine compartment and the gauge showed the inside temperature matched the ambient after vehicle speed past 20 mph. By logging the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor also showed that open-air-box intake generated higher volume (gr/sec) of air going through the sensor. So when we had to choose between (a) cooler air at all speed with limited air source, vs. (b) cooler air at 20~ mph. with unlimited air source, the choice was pretty obvious. Also included pre-oiled and cleanable filter.

MINI did a great job on 2011 model MCS in improving the turbo intake tube by replacing the soft rubber tubing with a full size and rigid ABS plastic one, similar to NM's aluminum/silicone version that we offer for the 2007~2010 MCS & JCW vehicles. So we decided to leave the inlet tube out and price out the kit to be more economical.

C.A.R.B. Exempt! EO# D-236-15

This kit fits US & Canada MCS older model with N14 engine (2007~2010).

Notes:

Due to ECU change, we came up with a different bracket that holds the fresh air inlet pipe. Please see below for production breakdown.

2007 - 2012 (March Production): Use part number NM.658857
2012 (April Production) - Up: Use part number NM.658857.1

DRY FILTER IS NOW AVAILABLE for those who do not want to deal with periodical filter cleaning! These are made by using the same paper material as the factory panel filters, designed to be thrown away once dirty. Same performance and price as the oiled filter. Make sure to choose the part number that ends with (D) for dry filter kit.

    Great investment

Tons of more spool up and turbo noises. Better acceleration, well worth the price!
