MINI recommends replacing this gasket anytime you have to replace a turbo. Sometimes, you can reuse this gasket; but on the higher mile cars, cars that sit outside, or if you stripped one of the heat shield nuts, then you should replace this. This is a brand new gasket and looks and functions exactly as the factory part (it might actually be!) but at a much lower cost.
